Fur Restyling
You can change old fur coats into something different with fur restyling.

Whether you feel as though your fur coat is now out of style or you just want a change, altering fur coats can be a great way to make the change without buying a new coat. Many furriers offer the option of fur restyling, allowing you to make changes to your coat and turn them into something new for less than buying a new coat. All that remains is determining how to change your coat.

Alter the Hem

One of the easiest ways to alter your fur coats is by changing the hem. If there is enough material, your furrier may be able to lower the hem, allowing you to enjoy a longer coat. However, in most cases, the furrier can only shorten the hem, providing you with a shorter coat than you had in the past. Sometimes a shorter coat is all you need, especially in warmer climates or for more casual wear.

Shearing

Long fur can be elegant and beautiful. This long fur also offers incredible warmth, keeping you warm, even in the coldest temperatures. If you are looking for a new look for your long furs, try shearing the fur. This will cut the furs shorter and provide you with a new texture and look to your fur coat.

Change the Sleeves

The sleeves on your fur coat may not be the first thing you think of when it comes to changing your coat. Whether the sleeves have been damaged or there is another issue, the furrier can redo the seams of the sleeves and give you a new look for your fur. In some cases, you can even add some additional fur to the end of the sleeves for a completely new look.

Repurposing

If you decide you don’t want a fur coat at all, a good furrier can actually take your old fur coat and turn it into something completely different. If there is enough material, he can transform it into a warm, fashionable blanket. For less material, a furrier can turn it into hair accessories, a scarf, a handbag or any number of other items, including making a stuffed animal from it.

If you aren’t happy with the way your fur coats look, you can seek a furrier and make alterations to the coat. An experienced furrier can make any number of changes, including changing the hem or the sleeves, shearing the fur or repurposing the coat altogether.
