blog 10317200ftlWhen you read about fur fashion, what first comes to mind? For many, the answer would be mental images of thick vintage fur coats, like something out of a portrait of the old Hollywood starlets. Unfortunately, due to the societal crackdown on clothing made from real fur, this particular style has fallen mostly out of fashion. All the same, quite a few people still appreciate this long lost fashion statement—so much so that fur fashion has enjoyed a gradual revival over the course of recent years. Fashionistas around the globe are now setting their sights on any and all upcoming trends for 2017, and we’re personally wondering: “Where will fur apparel rank in the hierarchy?” In this article, we’ll cover the 2017’s trends for fur fashion.

Soot-Toned Furs

As of recent years, the type of fur is only a minor element in how to wear a fur coat casually. The focus instead lies in the color of the fur itself, so it can be coordinated with its wearer’s outfits in unique, visually interesting ways. Current trends point toward duller, grey-toned furs, which are best paired with soft, monochromatic or jewel-like colors.

Alternatively, more neutral-colored furs seem to also be on the rise, especially when paired with other pieces in similar hues. If you’re looking for something different from the standard black, white and brown furs, you may want to consider similar (but less common) tones—navy or ecru, for instance.

A Collage of Furs

We understand how figuring out how to accessorize with real fur can be a challenge. There are so many colors, textures and styles to choose from, you may be overwhelmed from the sheer amount of combinations out there. Did you know there are coats out there made from a composite of different colors? A multicolored fur coat is typically made from the fur of one animal, with dye applied to turn it into a technicolor dream! The idea might sound a bit garish at first, but this trend has gained a lot of traction as of this year alone. If you’re looking for a way to add a bit of “oomph” to your collection of vintage fur coats, going multicolor is a popular option.

Making the Most of Patterns

Fur coats come not only in one or multiple colors, but in unique and vibrant patterns! Again, this look comes down to dyeing techniques. If you can’t find a coat already styled this way, you may have to consider having your fur styled on your own. The good news is the sky’s the limit for this particular fur look! You can find (or commission) furs with all kinds of patterns, from animal print to striping to whimsical, bold stars.

While these undoubtedly aren’t all the fur-related trends to arise in 2017, these are some of the hottest trends we’ve witnessed to date!
