July has officially drawn to a close, and now August is well underway. With the arrival of August, however, comes fall toddling at its heels. If you’re like us, you know exactly what this means: the opportunity to soon bring your real fur accessories out of retirement! Of course, because this is a brand new season, you don’t necessarily want to bring out the same old ensembles you wore last year or the year before. Here are a few suggestions on how to liven up your fall wardrobe, based on some of the hottest looks we’ve witnessed this year!
Fur & Silk
Designer Dennis Basso is responsible for this particular look, which debuted back during a 2016 fall fashion show. It is a unique spin on some of the more classical images of fur apparel – the kind we’ve all seen, with beautiful women clad in equally gorgeous evening wear, a fur coat or stole hanging delicately from their figures. You can replicate this familiar concept in the modern world.
To follow Basso’s example, take your finest piece of evening wear – a blouse, a gown or something similar – and layer your favorite real fur jacket over it. The ideal version of Basso’s concept involves delicate silk fabrics with lots of small details and simple heels.
Fur Collars & Other Fabrics
It’s become more than common to combine real fur accessories with fabrics of other types, but you can continue this (sort of) trend in all sorts of unique ways. On those fall days where it’s not too warm but not too cool, you can layer fur into your ensemble for the day. Consider wearing a light jacket with a fur collar underneath another jacket of a heavier fabric. This type of layering can pair well with any type of casual outfit, but may look best with a plain top and jeans or your favorite everyday skirt.
Patchwork Furs
You have another designer brand to thank for this look – specifically, Valentino! This brand came up with a whole new look for real fur jackets that is taking the fashion world by storm. Think of the typical mosaic, made up of a blend of appealing colors split up into a block pattern. Now apply that mosaic to your favorite piece of fur apparel. That’s what Valentino has come up with. These jackets are available in a wide variety of color choices, meaning there’s something out there to appeal to every fur lover. However, the most attractive versions we’ve seen so far blend together either natural coat colors into a striated pattern, or pastels in that “mosaic” we mentioned earlier. We think this option is great for those who are looking to experiment with color!
